Yes, we recommend always booking in advance. We can occasionally offer walk-ins if an appointment spot opens up, but this is often at short notice.
You don’t need an appointment to have your dog’s nails clipped – if one of our grooming team is available, this can be done on a walk-in basis.
Our deposits act as a guarantee of your slot. But we know that, from time to time, things change. So, if you cancel or change within 48 hours of the appointment, we can refund your deposit or carry it over to your next appointment. We currently ask for a £15 deposit per dog.
Remember – if you need to cancel and have booked your appointment online, you can cancel directly in your online booking account.
To improve your dog’s experience at the Mucky Pups Dog Spa, there are a couple of things you can do before bringing them in.
Please do not feed your pet within 30 minutes prior to their appointment
Please ensure that your pet has been given the opportunity to go to the loo before they enter the grooming salon. This will ensure that they get the maximum enjoyment out of their groom
This depends on your dog’s age, coat condition, size, temperament and the service they’re having done in the salon. As a rough guide, a Full Groom for a small, long-haired dog can take up to two hours. However, a larger dog’s groom may take longer. A Full Groom Smooth Hair takes up to 90 minutes, and a Bath, Brush & Blow Dry takes around 60 minutes on average. Your groomer will give you a collection time based on your dog’s unique grooming needs.
We pride ourselves on our training. Each and every groomer goes through a minimum of 1,000 hours of training before being qualified. But it doesn’t stop there – we also provide continuous assessment to make sure that our groomers learn critical new skills and maintain their training.
Our colleagues are all trained in line with City and Guilds qualifications and have in-depth knowledge of canine behaviour and canine first aid.
Our training is supported and delivered by our highly experienced Grooming Development & Expertise Trainers, who not only train our groomers, but are often also involved in setting the standards in the wider grooming industry.
We know how much you love your dog (we love them too), but seeing you might make them too excitable for safe grooming. We ask that you leave them in our care whilst we complete the groom.
This is one of the areas our expert groomers will discuss with you on your first visit. The answer to this question depends on your dog’s age, breed, size, coat condition and even lifestyle. Our team will help you get into the grooming routine that’s right for both you and your dog to keep them looking and feeling their best.
As a general rule, a long- or curly-coated breed should be professionally groomed every six to eight weeks, whereas a short- or smooth-coated dog may only need to visit every eight to 12 weeks for a Full Groom.
Unfortunately, we can’t groom dogs who are pregnant or in season (heat).
